If you haven’t seen the video yet, stop reading this text and watch it. I just saw this Toyota Auris commercial a few minutes ago and suspected what I was in for beforehand but my wife had no idea what was coming.
Oh my goodness! – Mrs. Retro
Years ago back in Australia I was at a nightclub with my friends in a gay-friendly bar on a gay-friendly street. Sydney. I have forgotten the street name now and am too lazy to look it up but if you have been to Sydney you probably know where I am talking about.
Anyway we were in this club and in a VIP room just chillin’. Four of us just sipping beers and shooting the breeze. Over by the door there was this really beautiful blonde woman and I think you know where I am going with this. She was very attractive. Everybody in the room was either sneaking glances at her or outright staring. Gay and straight and everything in between. That’s the way it seemed to me anyway.
Despite all this attention, nobody was hitting on her and from my experience in Sydney, pretty girls don’t sit alone for very long. At first I thought that she was just waiting for her boyfriend but when no-one arrived by her side I thought perhaps it was because she was just too beautiful, guys were intimidated.
Then I saw her Adam’s apple.
Watching this ad reminded me of that night. It didn’t really make me think about cars all that much. That said, this is certainly not the type of ad I would expect from a conservative company like Toyota. I’m impressed.
The man’s name is Stav Strashko.
