The Instacube is not yet available for sale. It is a Kickstarter project created by a company called Design to Matter. I hope it comes about though, as it is pretty cool. I am pretty sure that it will get funded as it has over $100,000 pledged after just one day. The target is $250,000. I think it is fair to assume that it will pass the target.
What is it and why do I think it’s pretty cool? Well basically it is a digital picture frame that connects to the internet via wi-fi and updates via Instagram feeds in real-time. That’s what it is. Now the reason I think it’s pretty cool is that I have been thinking about looking for something like this for a while. For my mother and for my wife’s parents. We have a small child but live far away from her grandparents and this would be a very simple way for them to keep up to date. Kids grow up quickly.
If you have an iPhone or an Android phone you can simply download the free Instagram app. And have your images appear in the picture frame. It has some neat features but I haven’t decided yet whether to fund because I am not a big fan of Instagram. They do mention the possibility of other options in the future though. The device also looks pretty.
If you don’t know what Instagram is, just crawl back under that rock you technophobe. Or Google it.
If you pledge now you can get this device for about $99 + shipping. If you wait, you will probably have to pay more.
